Venezia FC is serious about Serie A, accelerating its growth project and aiming to consolidate stably in Serie A thanks to a capital collection of 100 million euros. The arancioneroverde society has announced the entry of new investors led by Tim Leiweke - whose personal wealth is estimated at 5.8 billion dollars - and his daughter Francesca Bodie, marking a strategic turning point for the future of the laguna club. The declared goal is clear: to transform Venezia into a fixed presence in the top Italian league, accompanying the sporting growth with the transfer to the new 18,500-seat stadium under construction in the Bosco dello Sport area, near the Marco Polo airport. The plant, destined to become the new home of Venezia, should be inaugurated in January 2028 and represents one of the pillars of the relaunch project. To lead this new phase will be Bodie, appointed president of Venezia FC and the first woman in the club's history to hold the position. Manager with a long international experience in sports management and the realization of large infrastructure, Bodie takes the place of Duncan Niederauer, who will maintain a minority stake in the ownership. "We love Venezia and believe in the spirit of this historic society", said the new president, reiterating the will to build a competitive and stable team in Serie A. Alongside her will work her father, Tim Leiweke, appointed co-president of the operational committee together with Rob Hamwee. Leiweke is considered one of the most influential sports directors in North America, having led winning franchises in MLS, NBA and NHL and promoted the construction of world-class sports facilities. A key role in the negotiations was played by Canadian rapper Drake, already a partner of Venezia FC, who has been signing the team's jerseys for years. It was Aubrey "Drake" Graham who put Bodie and Leiweke in touch with the laguna club, thanks to their previous collaboration at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, owner of the Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC and Toronto Maple Leafs. "They know what success means and how to achieve it", explained Drake, highlighting the ambition to bring a winning mentality and internationality to Venezia. Filippo Antonelli was, instead, confirmed as general manager of the sports area. In the meantime, after tomorrow's internal match with Palermo - "in which we want to secure the platonically first place in the standings", said coach Stroppa - the team and staff will be protagonists of an event that cannot be replicated in any other corner of the planet: to celebrate the promotion to A, there will be a water parade in the heart of the lagoon. The departure is scheduled from Piazzale Roma: crossing the waters of the Grand Canal, crossing one of the most iconic routes in the world, passing under the Rialto Bridge, you will arrive in St. Mark's Square.
